Bandwidth Troubleshooting Software Solution
LANGuardian gives you the information you need to troubleshoot problems and monitor network bandwidth and make the best possible use of the available capacity. It shows at a glance how bandwidth is being used across your WAN, LAN and Internet links. It enables you to see details of usage by specific network links, users, clients, servers, applications and websites.
Way more detail than NetFlow can provide!
With LANGuardian, you can drill down to greater levels of detail, ultimately to details of the start-time, end-time, and size of each individual data transfer. If a WAN or Internet link on your network is slow or congested, you can identify the problem very quickly with LANGuardian. And, LANGuardian integrates with Active Directory, so you get reports that contain actual usernames and not just a list of IP addresses.
The bandwidth troubleshooting capabilities of LANGuardian are extremely easy to use. On the Search page, simply enter a username or IP address (subnets are also supported), and click Go. LANGuardian returns a results page containing report summaries that link to detailed reports.
You can customize reports to return only the data you need, and schedule those reports to run at any time. You can also create LANGuardian alerts to notify you when important thresholds are breached – often, this can help you troubleshoot problems before they arise!
The following are some examples of how our customers use LANGuardian for bandwidth monitoring:
- Prevent excessive bandwidth consumption by continuously monitoring transfer rates and generating alerts when the rates exceed a specified threshold.
- Detect bandwidth hogs on your network
- Measure the amount of bandwidth consumed by YouTube users.
- Monitor the amount of remote office bandwidth consumed by overnight backups synchronizing with a central server.
- Follow up on copyright infringement notices by identifying the specific user who downloaded a file containing a signature notified to the customer under DMCA legislation.
- Create a list of the websites most frequently visited by users on the network.
These are just a few examples. Why not download the LANGuardian free trial and experience its power and flexibility on your own network?
LANGuardian monitors your bandwidth usage in the same unobtrusive way it monitors other aspects of network and user activity – it gathers information by analyzing the traffic flowing through your network, so there are no clients or agents to install, and there is no performance impact. LANGuardian does not block users or prevent access, it simply provides you with the information you need so that you can understand how your bandwidth is being used and manage it effectively.
With LANGuardian, you can monitor bandwidth usage on your network in many different ways. You can start with an application, drilling down to details of bandwidth usage by individual client machines, users, and even individual file transfers. You can view graphs and reports by sensor, protocol, IP address and subnet. You can also filter bandwidth usage data by time and date, showing anything from short periods of a few minutes (for precise troubleshooting) up to months or years (for capacity planning).
LANGuardian comes with a wide range of built-in reports, as shown in the table below.
LANGuardian can generate daily email reports on bandwidth usage, containing data from standard and custom reports. It also includes a configurable Volume Overflow alert, so that you are automatically notified by email when any system on the network sends exceeds a specified amount of bandwidth usage in a specified time period.
